Hackerspace Seoul (HSS) is an open source community space that offers technical and artistic education, resources and creative opportunities. By making resources available to the public that would have otherwise been restricted, HSS offers the tools and creative freedom to tinker and experiment with all sorts of crazy ideas and contraptions. The atmosphere encourages unconventional thinking and fosters entrepreneurship. OpenCreators, for instance, has relied on HSS to materialize their ideas and jumpstart their 3D printer business.

HackerSpace Seoul has evolved into a more solid entity and force over the years and I am proud to have been an integral part of it. HSS’s internal resources and public outreach has grown. We have had the successful acquisition of grants from KOFAC and SFAC (Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture). HSS’s membership continues to grow through the outreach of workshops and organized public events. HSS currently resides in Euljiro with a wide selection of tools, hardware, software and equipment, all of which are available to the public.
